Thomas Arthur Townsend, Sr.

Thomas Arthur Townsend, Sr., age 86, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020.  He was born in Miami, Florida, most recently living in Jacksonville, Florida.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and the Gators.

Tom/Grandpa/Dad was a fun-loving guy.  He loved his family tremendously.  He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back.  He played football in Miami for Coral Gables High School, after high school he joined the Coast Guard.  After his service in the Coast Guard he worked in the pipefitting, trucking and mechanic industries.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roma Townsend and his mother, Lena Justice.  His memory will be kept alive by his sons, Thomas A. Townsend, Jr. (Brenda), Kerry Townsend (Debbie); grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; along with many friends and extended family.

There will be a short service for family at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.  Attendees are encouraged to be 30 minutes early and asked to pull into Lane 2.

All friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration Luncheon on Friday, July 24, 2020 from12:30 – 2:30, at the Duval Masonic Lodge, located at 2620 Dean Road, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
