Ronald Register Obituary

Ronald Howell Register, age 77, went to his heavenly home on May 13, 2020. He was born on May 30, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida to Lonnie and Ruby Register. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, and by his nephew, Ryan Murray.

Ronnie is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 45 years, whom he loved and cared diligently for especially in these past few years; his sons, Kenneth Roy (Marilyn), and Gary David Register; Carolyn’s children: Wanda (Danny) Weldon, Darryl and Lana Griffis; Grandchildren: Logan and Dalton(Dana) Register, Barrett Register, Maggie (Tommy) Bair, Justin(Heather) Weldon, Kellie(Derrick) Davis, Tyler Weldon; Great-Grandchildren: Beau Bair, Hannah and Cody Corbin, Marlee Davis, Walker, Kendall, Chloe and Wyatt Weldon. Ronnie’s brother, Gary (Joanne) Register, his sister, Pam (Rudy) Murray, his only niece, Amy (Troy) Miller, his nephews Mark (Julie) Murray, Kyle, Simeon(Amy) and Lincoln(Lauren) Register. His great nephews: Parker and Brock Miller, Connor and Christian Murray and his great nieces, Kaylee Murray and Adaira Miller.

The most important decision that Ronnie ever made in his life was in 2015 when he prayed the sinner’s prayer and gave his heart to Jesus. This decision gives his family and friends great peace because they KNOW where Ronnie is and have the hope of reuniting.

Ronnie was dedicated and devoted to his family but also his favorite past times. He loved the Florida Gators and loved all sports but especially football. He looked forward to road trips to watch the Gators play. On Gary’s trips back from Gainesville, Ronnie would call and talk about how “we” played and how bad the officiating was if “we” lost. He also loved deer hunting. In years past, he enjoyed the excitement of hunting with dogs. He also was an avid lover of any type of fishing: whether it was cane pole fishing in a canal or fishing in the Kingfish Tournament. Ronnie could often be found cooking BBQ. The BBQ trailer that he built for the Ham Jam competition years ago is still going and has cooked thousands of pounds of meat. He was skilled as the head crane operator at Register Contracting when the company owned three cranes. In all the things he loved, he loved his family and friends best. Ronnie would always make time for his long-time friends. He was honest, gentle, quiet and kind. To Gary and Pam, he was the best big brother. His light has dimmed on this earth, but to those who knew and loved him, will each carry a piece of his light, and always his love in our hearts.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ryan Murray Scholarship Fund in Ronnie's memory.  Checks can be written to Middleburg High School and delivered to Gary Register or Pam Murray.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 16, 2020 at South Prong Cemetery, Sanderson, FL. Pastor Delton Kilpatrick will officiate.
