Rickey Mullis Obituary

Rickey Cameron Mullis, born December 12, 1957, in Jacksonville, Florida, was age 63 when he went home to be with his Lord on August 16, 2021. Rickey grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, in the Brentwood, Paxon, and Westside areas of town. Rickey was an Ironworker for many years out of the Ironworkers Local 597. He loved ironwork and had many stories to tell about his career. He continued to work on many building and construction projects throughout his days, usually working to help friends and family members. His joy in life was taking care of his wife, Debbie, as well as his family and friends. Rickey tried his best to help anyone when he could. He enjoyed hanging out with his Westside brothers and spending time with his grandchildren and family members.  He also liked to fish, take walks along the St. Johns River, and go to the beach with Debbie. Rickey always took great care and consideration that his family and friends were looked after throughout his life. He will be remembered as a friendly, caring man, and he had a great many friends as a result of his big heart.

Rickey is survived by his wife Debbie Mullis, daughter Angie Shook, Son-in-law Jonathan Shook, Grandson Jude Shook, Granddaughter Ava Shook, and Siblings: Darlene McMillan, Mickey Mullis, Terri Mullis, E.W. Mullis, and wife Eleanor, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rickey had 13 siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother Willie Mullis, father Ellis Mullis, siblings: George Mullis, Gloria Thumel, Bobby Mullis, Tommy Mullis, Dorothy Mullis, Jack Mullis, Billy Mullis, Elizabeth Warren, as well as several aunts, uncles.

The celebration of life for Rickey will be held at Harvest Time Sanctuary Church, at 4502 Old Middleburg Road North, Jacksonville, Fl. 32210. The service will be held on August 28th at 3:00 PM and will be officiated by Pastor Clarence Jarrell. There will be a time for family and friends to gather directly after the service, and refreshments will be provided. There will also be an additional gathering to celebrate Rickey at 5:00 PM at the Little House Clubhouse. If interested in attending the clubhouse gathering, ask Debbie Mullis for directions.

Due to the potential for a large crowd gathered in limited space at the church, we suggest wearing a face covering.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family would like family and friends to consider donations to Debbie to go towards medical bills. Anyone that wishes to donate for medical bills can use the following PayPal link for online donations: https://paypal.me/angiershook?locale.x=en_US or you can give donation gifts directly to Debbie Mullis.

H.M. “Hank” Forbes Jr. of Giddens-Reed Funeral Home in Baldwin, FL, is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Mullis family. Please leave your condolences for the Mullis family in the online guestbook at www.giddensreedfh.com.
