Nedrell Lee Jones of Callahan passed away March 27, 2020. She was born October 11, 1954 in Kingsport, Tennessee to Alonzo and Maude Sexton. Nedrell was orphaned at age 13 and grew up with her aunts supervision. She graduated from high school in Wise, Virginia and moved to Jacksonville, Florida to play basketball for the junior college. After college Nedrell worked for several firms in Jacksonville including Ryder Truck Lines. After their merger with Pacific Intermountain Express and subsequent bankruptcy she worked for Joseph’s Italian Restaurant until she fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening her own restaurant. Nedrell opened Nedrelli’s Italian restaurant in 1991 after moving to Callahan, Florida. She operated the restaurant until 2000 at which time she began working at Amelia Island Plantation for several years. After retirement she worked at Cedar River Seafood for a short time. Nedrell was always a happy hard working woman who worked hard to raise her children and to help anyone she could. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. Her life centered around her family.
Nedrelll is survived by: daughter Alexus Nelson (Myles); son Eric Jones; step-sons Casey Jones (Missy) and Craig Jones (April); grandchildren Mylee Nelson, Baxlee Nelson, Dempsey Jones, Rebecca Hudspath (Brandon), Laura Beth Jones, Leah Jones, and Chloe Jones; brothers James Sexton (Sharon) and Jerry Reynolds (Thelma); and many friends.
A memorial service will be held May 28, 2020 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Giddens-Reed Funeral Home.
