Mary Adina Mangaroo a woman of faith, born January 6, 1919 passed away peacefully at her residence on September 7, 2020.Mom was the first of 12 children born to Wilfred and Ioney Sessing in Manchester Jamaica WI. She is survived by her sisters Lynette and Ruth, her brother Horace and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She impacted the lives of her many nieces and nephews with her kindly ways. She migrated to NY in 1966, worked as a Nanny caring for the Eskow sisters who she refers to as her Jewish daughters and they have lovingly and caringly kept in touch with her over all these years. She later embarked on a career as a CNA, after her graduation she worked as the first CNA (a pioneer) at Hillside Manor in Queens NY until her retirement in 1987. Always one for an adventure she travelled to Jacksonville with her son Carlton and his wife Merlinda. Carlton went home to be with the Lord in January of 2011 at which time mom made the decision to remain with her daughter (in-law) and her grandchildren. In 2017 she moved into Riverside Presbyterian House where she formed many friendships, she enjoyed the interactions and activities especially the sing-a-longs and Bible studies. She loved company and was always hospitable to her many family and friends who visited, and we always left encouraged. We are blessed to have had you for so many years. Rest in peace dear mother. “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day......and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his coming.” 2 Timothy 4: 7.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Mary will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 am at Riverside Memorial Park, with visitation an hour prior.
A special thank you from the family to the pastors and her many friends at River City Church and Evangel Temple. Also, thank you to the management and staff at Riverside Presbyterian House for always being there when we could not be. God bless you all.
