Ira James Rowe

Ira James Rowe, "Jim" age 79, passed on to heaven on the morning of Friday, June 19th, 2020, at home, comforted by his wife and eldest daughter.

Jim was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 5th 1940 to Mr. I J Rowe and Mrs. Sylvia Rowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Rowe, brother Donald Rowe and his sister Diane Workman. 

He is survived by Joyce Rowe his wife of sixty-three years, son James Rowe, three daughters; Rachel Rowe, Joye Jackson, Donna Haley, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jim loved his family and found great joy in life’s gifts of laughing with grandchildren, reading history books, enjoying the ocean, and sharing a good meal with those he loved. Many good friends were very dear to him. His love of landscape, plants, people and even his chickens colored every aspect of this man’s life.

With honesty and integrity, Jim founded Rowe Tile and was a skilled, diligent artisan in tile, marble and quarry. His craftsmanship is represented in buildings throughout the southern states, with a focus in Jacksonville, Atlanta, and New Orleans. 

Jim’s legacy of valuing the people he held dear and the simple times of life lives on in those he loved.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday 6/20/20 5pm until 7pm
