Duane Wilson Obituary

Duane Fredrick Wilson passed away in the company of his daughter, Sandra, and son, David at Ascension St. Vincent hospital Friday November 13th, 2020 at 1:27 PM.

He is survived by his two children, David Wilson and Sandra Wilson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Wilson; his three grandchildren: Victoria (Alex) Kovalenko, Adrienne Wilson, and Devon (Jordyn) Wilson; two great-grandchildren: William and Skylar. His last remaining relatives on his side of the family: his sister-in-law, Aunt Norma Wilson; his nieces: Sherry and Sandy; nephews: Dennis, Michael, Gary and Tony; and all their children and grandchildren.

Duane was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 13th, 1939.  He joined the U.S. Air Force for a year. Then switch to the U.S. Army where he spent twenty years serving his country, the majority of those times overseas, until his retirement in 1976.

It was when he was stationed in France he met the Love of his life, Chantal née Deschamps in1963. They married in France on July 11th,1964. They celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary before her passing on September 26th of this year.

Duane was a hardworking supportive and loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a great sense of humor.  He loved going to the movies, fishing, golfing and traveling with his wife and hanging out with his son and daughter and grandkids.  Duane and Chantal loved to go on cruises and visit Las Vegas together!!!  When he retired in 2008, they divided their time between their home in Jacksonville, Florida and their family's hometown in France.  They did this until his stroke in November 2011.

For nine years, after his stroke, Duane has been living in a nursing home, with the goal this year, due to the pandemic, to bring him home to live full time with his wife, Chantal in care of their daughter, Sandra.  They both passed before this could happen.  Duane joins Chantal in heavenly paradise. They are together, at last.

For those that knew him, we will remember his love, how much he always supported his family, and his witty sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, funny Dad, and doting Papa. He will forever be missed in our hearts.
His service to be held at Giddens-Reed Funeral Home on US 301 in Baldwin, Florida.
