Betty Jean (McGowan) Treadwell

Betty Jean Treadwell unexpectedly passed away April 22, 2019. She was born December 14, 1934 in Jackson County, Florida. She was a graduate of Behlehem High School in the Florida Panhandle. Betty was a faithful member of Gospel Lighthouse Church for 52 years. Mrs. Treadwell and her husband Reverend Dean Treadwell  founded the church in 1962. The church later became the home of  Lighthouse Missions Outreach where many worked for years to reach out to Haiti and the poor. They also had a radio ministry in 1971 that reached out to the hurting and the lost through WERD radio station. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Mrs. Treadwell was preceded in death by: her husband of 62 years Reverend Dean Treadwell; a grandson Darrell Dustin Treadwell; her parents Ralph McGowan and Esther Thames Harris; and brothers Cliff McGowan and Pete McGowan. She is survived by: sons Darrell (Debbie), Randy, David (Theresa), Dale, and Jody (Gabie); (14) grandchildren; (11) great-grandchildren; and her friend and caregiver Lorran Pressly..
The family will receive friends Friday, April 26, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Giddens-Reed Funeral Home  270 U S Highway 301 N. Baldwin, FL 32234.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Encouraging Word Church (formerly known as Gospel Lighthouse Church) 2435 Picketville Road Jacksonville, FL 32220 with Reverend James Guy and Reverend Fred Jenson officiating.
Betty’s laughter and testimony will be missed by many. May she rest high on the mountain in the arms of her loving savior.
