Alice Johnson Obituary

Ms. Alice L. Johnson went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on March 29th at the age of 94. Alice was born in Monticello, Florida February 3, 1928, to the late Samuel and Celia M. Johnson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Jacksonville Florida and went on to attend The Walkers Business and Vocational College. Once Alice entered the workforce, she was a long time employee of Swisher International, retiring with over 47 years of service. Alice was also employed as a school crossing guard for the City of Jacksonville and The Jacksonville Urban League in the Nutrition department.

Alice was a long time resident of the Sherwood Forest community and the greater Jacksonville area, Ms. Johnson became known as Granny to many, people often addressed pieces of her mail this way. Alice was patient, full of kindness, love, and laughter and nothing short of remarkable! We will remember her for her wisdom and encouragement to everyone she encountered. She had sunshine in her smile, and her laughter was a source of joy. Her heart was full of compassion and unprejudiced. Her hugs were like a shield of protection, and her prayers were the sword. There was love in everything she did to make our lives worthwhile. You could always find both hope and courage simply by looking into her eyes.

Alice was a member of Evangel Temple Assemble of God, Pastor Garry & Jordan Wiggins, and church family. She was proceeded in death by sisters Jimmie Johnson and Mary Smith, sons Dr. David B. Kee (Lucretia) Danial McCoy, daughter Allene Kee and granddaughter Monet Kee. 

Alice leaves to cherish her memory  two sons Michael A. Kee Palm Coast Florida Jonathan M. Kee (Nanette) Jacksonville, Florida. Two daughters Nuguana “Von” McCoy Jacksonville Florida, and Felicia D. Cross (Charles) Jacksonville Florida. Grandchildren Shelia Morgan Jacksonville Florida, Tracey Gaston (Mark) Jacksonville Florida, Alicia Kee Jacksonville Florida, Shameka Barrino (Matthew Sr.) Peyton Colorado, Jeanette Robinson (Tony) Jacksonville Florida, Jonathan Kee Jr. Jacksonville Florida, Alana Kee Jacksonville Florida, Micah Kee Jacksonville Florida, Antwan Bennett Jacksonville Florida, and Daniel McCoy Jr. Jacksonville Florida.

Great grandchildren Marcel Gaston, Matthew Gaston, Tracy Gaston, Tyler Gaston, Larissa Raysor, Gabriel Foster, Kennedy Robinson, Darius Jones, Jordan Jones, Adrian Jones, Meeah Barrino, Aubrey Barrino, AvaMarie Barrino and Matthew Barrino Jr.

Extended family Sarah Davis, Willis & Janice Baldwin, Hope Thomas, Vera & Harold King, Mary & Aisha Rumph, Kay Kisser Cherry Lightner, Mildred McLendon & Perry Jenkins. A dear neighbor Lawrence Calhoun. Felicia, Michael, Evan Davis Chesapeake VA. Zachary Lindsey Mansfield TX, Carlton & Jerri Thomas Byron GA, Denise Thomas Live Oak FL, and many more who new and loved Alice Johnson.

Today as we celebrate her, the life she lived so Godly and elegant. She will never be forgotten and live on in our hearts, a masterpiece created in His image, a lifesaver, a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many, but most of all a woman of GOD and will be greatly missed.
