William W. Hansell II

William Whitfield (Whit) Hansell, II, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away October 20, 2017 in Winter Park, Florida. Whit was the second of five children of Dr. & Mrs. W. W. Hansell, a twin born October 9, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Whit attended Des Moines schools, graduating from Dowling High School and from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He lived in Olathe, Kansas. He moved to Mt. Dora, Florida, where he had an accounting business. He later moved to Jacksonville where he has lived for the past 30 years. He was member of the online group, Fuchs Friends for corneal dystrophy, Lay Franciscan, a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and their Men’s Bible Study Group.

Whit was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Minnette Marie. He is survived by his sister, Margaretta Horner of Lawrence, Kansas, sister, Michelle (John) Tennison of Eustis, Florida, his brother, Jon Hansell, of Livingston, Montana, nieces Ashley Hanley and Shannon Tennison of Florida, nephew Jon Groth of Iowa, David Groth and Kevin Horner of Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Masses said for Whit. A memorial service and Rosary will be said at 1:30 pm with Mass at 2 pm. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road North. Jacksonville, FL. Pastor James Boddie will officiate.
