Thomas Mitchell Ries

Thomas Mitchell Ries, 22, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. Tommy was born on February 24, 1997, in Jacksonville FL. He was diagnosed with Hurler Syndrome in May 1998, at the age of 15 months. He underwent a bone marrow transplant at University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota in January 1999.
Tommy led a valiant fight with MPS1 Hurler Syndrome. He was a warrior that led him to be a Super Hero as his flight took him over the rainbow. In his flight he blessed and united his whole family and numerous friends and supporters with super strength to soar with him. His strength united many in a common cause for caring and believing in others.
Tommy made a huge impact on every life he came in contact with and had an enormous desire to make everyone laugh! Tommy was a happy boy who loved movies, chicken nuggets, chocolate chip cookies, match box cars, and to laugh. 
Tommy will be missed by his parents, Tom and Susan Ries, his older sister and bone marrow donor Kirstin (Cody), and his little sister Kaitlyn; also his maternal grandmother Debbie Hollingsworth-Kirkland, and his paternal grandmother, Victoria Waggoner; also his great grandmother Marie McLean. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
We will have a Celebration of Life to honor Tommy Ries. It will be a casual, come as you are celebration for a chance for everyone who loved our Tommy to all be together at once. It’s on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at 12:30pm at the Twin Hills Civic Association, 6743 Watoma St, Jacksonville FL, 32210.
