The Reverend Cecil Wiggins Obituary

The Reverend Cecil L. Wiggins, 87, victoriously entered into heaven from his home in Jacksonville, FL on March 24, 2018. He was born in Evergreen, Alabama. Pastor Wiggins served in full-time ministry for 65 years and ministered at Evangel Temple for 53 years, where he was lead pastor for 45 years. In 2010, the senior Wiggins handed the reins of the church to his son, Garry Wiggins. At that time, The Florida Times-Union described Cecil Wiggins as "a stalwart of charismatic and Pentecostal Christianity in Jacksonville since the early 1960s," reporting that he had built the church "into a powerhouse through personal evangelism and cutting-edge TV and radio programs." The newspaper also cited Wiggins' "reputation for the promotion of conservative biblical values through progressive use of media." He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Kenyard Wiggins; mother, Maebell Wiggins; sisters, Louise Lee and Lois Wiggins; his son, Stephen Wiggins and granddaughter, Sheree Kisser. Survivors include his wife of almost 67 years, Pauline; two children: Pastor Garry (Kim) Wiggins and Kay (Randy) Kisser; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; siblings, James Wiggins, Charles Wiggins and Anne McAlister. The viewing will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 5755 Ramona Blvd., Jacksonville. The celebration of his life will be Wednesday at 7 pm immediately following the viewing at Evangel Temple. The graveside service will be held 10 AM, March 29, 2018 at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Evangel Temple Assembly of God and designated “The Cecil Wiggins Memorial Fund”. Services will be officiated by Pastor Garry Wiggins; Terry Raburn, Pastor and Superintendent of the Peninsular Florida District Council of the Assemblies of God; and Pastor John Kilpatrick of John Kilpatrick Ministries.
