Eleanor Gormly Campbell

Eleanor Gormly Campbell, 98, passed away April 6, 2017 in Raleigh, NC. A native of Jacksonville, she was born January 19, 1919. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Erl Gormly and Ida Lucy Simon Gormly; her husband, Winton Grier Campbell,Sr.; her brother, Raymond Erl Gormly, Jr.; her sister, Isabell Ruth Gormly and her son, Raymond Erl Campbell of Greenville, SC. Survivors include her son, COL Winton Grier Campbell, Jr. (retired) of Raleigh, NC; her granddaughters, Cathy Campbell Patterson of Sanford, NC and Debra Campbell West of Durham, NC; her grandsons, Raymond Erl Campbell, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Michael Grier Campbell of Brisbane, Australia; her nephews, Robert Erl Gormly of Maggie Valley, NC, and CDR Richard Benton Gormly (retired) of Cumming, GA and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell was a long time member of Murray Hill Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL. She worked in the office at Lee High School in Jacksonville for over 30 years. Mrs. Campbell was a dedicated wife, a loving mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff at The Haven at Wyckford, Raleigh, NC for the loving care they gave Mrs. Campbell during the past year. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post Street, Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Pastor Doug Axtell officiating. Burial will be held at a later time at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Murray Hill Baptist Church or Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
