Alan Joseph (Joey) Samorisky, 67, passed away suddenly January 8, 2018. He was born in DuBois, PA on May 14, 1950 to the late Beatrice (Mincy) and Albert Samorisky. Joey moved to Jacksonville, FL when he was six months old. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1968 and the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising in 1972. He served on the UF Alumni Association Board for 12 years, was past President of the Gator Club of Jacksonville, and a Gator Booster since 1968. Joey was an avid Gator fan and was named the biggest Gator fan in Jacksonville in 1992. His career began as a master electrician but found his dream job as President and CEO of Southeastern Decorators, a trade show and special event company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville. He was a devoted son, husband and father and friend. He was very intelligent, had a great sense of humor and caring soul. He cared for Mary Kay until she passed in 2013. He will be greatly missed by many.
Joey was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Mary Kay (Lofton); his parents, Bea and Al Samorisky; sister, Patty Anders; aunt, Dorothy and parents-in-law Bessie and John Lofton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Heather Mills (Michael); sister, Jeanine Fickling; two brothers-in-law, Billy Anders and Alan Fickling, an uncle, Paul; niece, Lisa Adams (Mal); nephews, Blake Fickling (Courtney), Brent Fickling (Maggie); great nieces and nephew, Sutherlyn Adams and Avery and Hayes Fickling along with numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 118 E. Monroe St., Jacksonville, FL 32202, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.
